Refund policy

DEBEL Refund Policy

1. General Refund Policy Overview

Refunds are processed according to the specific type of service (Projects, Services, or Events). To ensure transparency and fairness, each category has a unique refund structure based on service fees, transaction charges, and additional factors such as affiliate commissions, applicable taxes, and discounts.

  • Refund Request Window: All refund requests must be submitted within 14 days from the purchase or booking date.
  • Refund Method: Refunds will be credited to the original payment method or as DEBEL account credit, as chosen by the customer at the time of the refund request.
  • Non-Refundable Fees: Any transaction charges incurred during payment processing are non-refundable. DEBEL’s service charge, applicable tax deductions, and affiliate commissions (if applicable) are also non-refundable.

2. Refund Policy by Category

A. Projects

For Projects (e.g., custom classes, coaching, educational consultations), the refund amount depends on the project completion stage.

  • Full Refund: If the request is made within 24 hours of purchase and before any initial consultation or project setup has commenced.
  • Partial Refund: If a project has commenced, a partial refund may be granted based on the percentage of work completed. DEBEL's service charge (10% of the project fee), any affiliate commission, transaction charges, and tax are non-refundable.
  • No Refund: If the project is 75% or more complete, no refund will be issued.

Sample Calculation for Projects:

  • Project Fee: $500

  • DEBEL Service Charge: 10% ($50)

  • Affiliate Commission: 5% ($25)

  • Transaction Charge: 3% ($15)

  • Tax: 7% ($35)

  • Scenario: If the project is 50% complete, and the client requests a refund.

    • Refund Calculation:
      • Refundable Portion: $500 - $50 (service charge) - $25 (affiliate) - $15 (transaction) - $35 (tax) = $375.
      • 50% of $375 = $187.50 (refund amount).
B. Services

For Services (e.g., educational packages, subscriptions):

  • Full Refund: A full refund is granted if the request is made before service activation or within 48 hours of purchase.
  • Partial Refund: For ongoing subscriptions or partially used packages, a pro-rated refund will be calculated based on usage. DEBEL’s service charge (10% of the total package fee) is non-refundable, and any discounts applied during purchase will also be deducted from the refund amount.
  • No Refund: No refund is provided after 30 days from purchase.

Sample Calculation for Services:

  • Service Fee: $300

  • Discount: 10% ($30)

  • DEBEL Service Charge: 10% of $300 ($30)

  • Transaction Charge: 3% of $270 ($8.10)

  • Tax: 5% of $300 ($15)

  • Scenario: Customer cancels after using 50% of the service period.

    • Refund Calculation:
      • Refundable Amount: $300 - $30 (discount) - $30 (service charge) - $8.10 (transaction) - $15 (tax) = $216.90.
      • 50% of $216.90 = $108.45 (refund amount).
C. Events

For Event bookings (e.g., seminars, webinars, workshops):

  • Full Refund: If canceled at least 10 days before the event date.
  • Partial Refund: If canceled between 5-10 days before the event, a 50% refund will be provided. DEBEL’s service fee (based on event type), transaction fees, and taxes are non-refundable.
  • No Refund: No refunds are issued for cancellations made less than 5 days before the event or for “no-shows”.

Sample Calculation for Events:

  • Event Fee: $200

  • DEBEL Service Charge: 10% for seminars ($20)

  • Affiliate Commission: 5% ($10)

  • Transaction Charge: 3% ($6)

  • Tax: 7% ($14)

  • Scenario: If the cancellation is requested 7 days before the event.

    • Refund Calculation:
      • Refundable Portion: $200 - $20 (service charge) - $10 (affiliate) - $6 (transaction) - $14 (tax) = $150.
      • 50% of $150 = $75 (refund amount).

3. Special Refund Conditions

  • Affiliate Commissions: If a purchase involved an affiliate, the commission is non-refundable and will be deducted from the final refund amount.
  • Discounts: Discounts applied at purchase will be prorated and deducted from the refund amount.
  • Transaction Charges: All transaction fees, including credit card processing or bank fees, are non-refundable and will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • Taxes: Taxes paid on the original transaction are non-refundable.

4. Refund Processing Time

All refund requests are processed within 5-10 business days of the approval date. The time it takes for the refund to reflect in your account may vary depending on the payment method and financial institution.

This policy ensures DEBEL maintains fairness for both customers and partners while considering affiliate earnings, service charges, and other financial aspects. It also highlights the importance of timely cancellations and offers clarity on the refund structure for each service type.

Among the Key features of Debel's Debel E-Learning

Question sharer

By default, teachers can only share questions with teachers in the same course as themselves and they can only save questions to the course they are currently working in.

This custom role of 'Question sharer' allows them to access and share questions at category or site level. The role must be created by an administrator and then given to selected teachers.

Question Creation Activity

The Question Creation Activity is a graded activity where students must create questions in the Debel question bank. A teacher grades the questions.

The students get a grade for the questions they create.

You can specify a percentage of the grade to be automatically assigned depending on how many of the required questions the student creates and the rest of the grade awarded to the student to be dependent on the grade a teacher assigns for the questions created.

It is possible to choose that the activity is 100% automatic grading without any teacher manual grading, or 100% manually graded by teachers.

You can chose the question types students will be allowed to create and the number of questions required to complete the activity.

Studentquiz

StudentQuiz enables students to collaboratively create their own question pools within Debel. Students can filter these questions into quizzes, and they can rate and comment on questions while working through the quizzes. StudentQuiz computes each student contribution and learning progress and compares this with the community. The created questions become part of the Debel question bank and can be reused in other Debel quizzes.

Students like questions to help them prepare for exams. However, it’s hard to provide enough questions for many self-assessments and exams. StudentQuiz enables students to collaboratively create their own question pools within Debel. Even if an individual student contributes a few questions only, a large cohort could easily build up an extensive question pool.

In StudentQuiz, students can filter questions into quizzes, and they can rate and comment on questions while working through the quizzes. StudentQuiz collects usage data for each question and ranks students based on their contribution and performance within the quizzes. A personal learning assistance feature displays the individual progress and compares it with the community average. The created questions become part of the Debel question bank and can be reused in other Debel quizzes.

A teacher can configure:

  • Whether students’ names are displayed or kept anonymous.
  • What questions types are allowed to be added to the pool.
  • The number of points assigned to questions contributed and answers given.

There are more benefits of using StudentQuiz. StudentQuiz has been tested and is available in Chinese, English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and other languages.

Mindmap

This Mindmap module allows you to create and save simple mindmaps from within Debel. Teachers and Students will be able to collaborate to add notes on the mindmap.

Essay autograde

The essay (autograde) question type allows an essay question response to be given a preliminary grade that is generated automatically based on one or more of the following characteristics of the response.

  • The number of words in the response.
  • The number of characters in the response.
  • The presence of one or more target phrases in the response.

The automatic grade can be overridden by the teacher later.

Additionally, the teacher can set up grading bands that offer a non-linear grading scheme. In such a scheme, the grade awarded is that of the grading band in which the word/character count falls.

Some Tips for Teachers

Some Tips for Teachers: Elearning Tools

Of course, e-learning tools can make this mode more convenient for both the student and the teacher. The danger of course, is that it is too convenient that it makes people lazy. It can be boring or ineffective if not handled properly. E-learning is only slightly different from the traditional kind of learning.

E-learning is only slightly different from the traditional kind of learning. Of course, e-learning tools can make this mode more convenient for both the student and the teacher. The danger of course, is that it is too convenient that it makes people lazy. It can be boring or ineffective if not handled properly. So here are a few ideas that would improve the effectiveness of e-learning for everyone.

Creating Connections between the Lesson and the Real Life

The thing that e-learning lacks most of the time is a connection between the lesson and the personal world or experiences of the student. This is because e-learning distances the teacher from the student. This is after all the teacher’s job. But this does not mean that it cannot be done in e-learning. Perhaps the best way for such an element to be inserted into the electronic module is by use of vivid examples that would most likely connect with your students or trainees. If the course is about customer management for example, getting short, real testimonials from those who have had experiences with such matters will be a great addition.

Challenge the Learners

E-learning should not be spoon-feeding. Most of the time, teachers or trainers simply insert the same Powerpoint presentation slides into the e-learning tools and call it a day. This is a wrong practice. Of course Powerpoint slides will always have a great application to teaching. But e-learning is not about just slides. It will just be like reading without any interactive element. That is why it is also a great idea to keep things interesting by creating games and integrating these games into quizzes that will challenge the learners about the lessons they have learned. Also, only giving the learners all the facts and then testing them later on by asking what those facts were is nothing more than a memory exercise. One should not just give the learners simple boring quizzes. Make sure to engage them with thought-provoking questions that will force them to really make use of the knowledge they have learned.

Create Simulations of the Practical Application of the Lesson

It is fairly easy to do this for e-learning. With enough creativity and planning, one can make an interactive and fun simulation. For example, if the lesson is about employee management Feature Articles, one can easily create a scenario that involves a decision making process that will take the trainee step by step through that process.

Use Images Packed with Meaning

Remember that each image one will use is a big part of the e-learning process. There are many times when designers will simple place superfluous images and graphics just to make the thing more colorful or pleasing to the eye. This is not always a good idea. That will just become an ornamental display which often leads to a feeling of image saturation. It is better for the e-learning tools designer to put in meaningful images that really say something or illustrate with utmost clarity the lessons being taught in the module.
